We Care earns GuideStar Exchange Silver Seal of Participation September 27, 2013 at 03:06PM
We Care Community Services was recently awarded the Silver Seal of Participation by GuideStar USA, Inc. in recognition of its commitment to transparency and financial accountability.
GuideStar is a leading online provider of nonprofit information, utilized by tens of thousands of people each month.
"We have always strived to be responsible with the resources entrusted to us," We Care President Walter Ring said this week of the recognition, “and to be as open and transparent as possible about what we do with them.”
“Through the nearly 30 years of We Care’s existence,” Ring said, “that commitment has remained constant. Our values haven’t changed, but the world has. And, while our work remains vital and relevant as ever, we must embrace new ways of sharing our message so that we remain relevant, also.”
GuideStar.com recognizes nonprofits for making information about their leadership, finances and impact available online.
The information provided is displayed on each organization’s GuideStar profile, along with a seal symbolizing their level of transparency. Organizations that provide more information are rewarded with higher levels of recognition.
“We Care will celebrate its 30th birthday next year,” Ring said, “and we are on the brink of several initiatives that would have a tremendous effect on our community. However, to be successful, we will need the support of our neighbors.”
“By participating in the GuideStar Exchange program,” Ring said, “we hope to inspire even greater trust in our current supporters, while also communicating our mission and values to new and wider audiences.”
